The book describes hundreds of plants that suit the various microclimates that you may encounter - or create. I discuss planting ideas for using foliage and flowers to create the effect you want and show that it's possible to really take advantage of the shady environment. What's more there are links provided directly back to my website so you can access detailed cultivation notes of many of the plants.
I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you and give you the practical information to garden successfully with shade.

Congratulations, Deirdre, your new book is absolutely wonderful! So well put together. I know I shall refer to it often, as I do with your previous books. So helpful - thank you!
I finished reading the book last night. Full of relevant info and well-written, I really enjoyed it, and will put it to good use. I have especially gained some help in what plants I would like to plant, so thank you!
A well researched book, which is packed with helpful information for shady gardens and how to start one. A great read as well as a good reference for shade loving plants - those Frost-sensitive and those Frost-resilient and how to mix the two to make an interesting garden. Thanks.
I welcome your feedback on the book so please feel free to send me a message via the Contact page.
