Plant Description

Pelargonium sidoides

Pelargonium sidoides

This very robust Pelargonium is growing successfully in a very hot, dry position in my garden. It has a very petite flower above a rosette of attractive grey scalloped leaves with a velvety texture. I have it growing near the tough Helichrysum petiolare, which allows the little flowers to stand out. It is a South African plant and has been used for medicinal purposes.

Postscript: my specimen eventually died - it seemed to succumb to a fungal infection during very hot, humid weather. It may survive better in a pot, where it can have good drainage.
