This is a robust salvia from South Africa. It is a tidy little shrub with lavender blue flowers with a white splotch during summer and autumn. It has tiny, olive-green foliage. It can grow up to around 1m tall and forms a clump, but is not invasive. It is both cold and drought hardy. It is a good candidate for a dry, sunny garden, with companions such as Sedum, Artemisia, rosemary, lavender and Phlomis, but it is also said to grow quite well in a part-shaded spot. It is sensitive to severe frosts.
