Plant Description

Agave attenuata

Agave attenuata (centre), Pymble garden

This succulent plant from Mexico grows on a stem to 1.3m high, topped with a rosette of soft, spineless leaves. It will branch over time, and can be cut back to the ground to allow it to regrow at a lower level. It is drought tolerant and likes to grow in full sun in a well-drained position. It can be grown in a pot. It provides a strong architectural form in the garden. Note that it does multiply rather rapidly so keep an eye on it.
