You can make your own garden a part of the iGarden Garden Ramble. Keen gardeners are always interested in what others are doing so we have made it easy for you to share your own garden's secrets - while preserving your privacy. Each garden is only identified using your first name and postcode area.
A garden profile starts with a general description of your garden and an appropriate photograph. To this general description you can add up to five points of interest with photos. A special point of interest might be a favourite plant/plant group, garden area, vista or statue etc. You can go back at any time to change the details, and your garden profile will not be visible to others until you are ready to put it Online (ie activate it).
Start by choosing a photo of your garden that will become the main image. It should be at least 600 pixels wide and preferably in landscape orientation. Uploaded images must be in jpg, gif or png format and the file size must not exceed 1MB (approximately 1024x768) so you may have to resize one from your camera first.
Then, write your general description of your garden. You should try to be as concise as possible, as you are limited to about 300 words. The general description is the place to talk about the locality, size, soil, style and the atmosphere you might have wanted to create. Later you can then add extra points of interest to focus on individual favourite parts or plants, and each of these pieces of text can also be 300 words long. We recommend that instead of typing directly in the box below, it is best to spend a little time preparing your general description information offline so you can transcribe it or copy and paste it into the form. (If you spend too long on this form the information you type may be lost due to a timeout with the server).
Once you have created and submitted your general description you will find a new menu option that allows you to edit your garden profile. While on the edit page you can add the special points of interest in much the same way as you have created the general description.
