"Mystic Spires not blooming"

Started by Janelle - 2132 Wednesday, 29 January 2014

I bought Salvia "Mystic Spires" last summer, captivated by the intense blue of its flowers, and planted it in my cottage-style garden. I cut it back when it finished flowering, and during spring it put on healthy new leafy growth. I have waited expectantly for it to bloom ... but nothing is happening! I have several other Salvias doing well in my garden and blooming, so the conditions must be right. Any suggestions? Do I just have a lazy plant?!

Not too sure what the problem is, normally this hybrid flowers all year round, it mightnt like the position it Is in. Cheers Annette

My patience has been rewarded - seems Mystic Spires was just waiting for Autumn!

Think your Salvia is Salvia leucantha which blooms later, Mystic Spires has a greener more rounded leaf and flowers earlier.
