Have no experience of the cordless hedge trimmers but have used both electric and petrol powered ones for doing our Murraya
hedges and cutting the grasses like the Miscanthus
sinensis. I would only suggest that if you have to hold it up for a long time get one that is not too heavy.
I would also be very wary of using your trimmer to cut anything like roots where there is soil as this will very quickly ruin the cutting blades.

I bought a Bosch cordless hedge trimmer about six months ago. It"s made shaping my dozen diosmas and various other bushes so much easier and quicker. It has a lithium battery, which can be recharged at any time, and holds its charge until you want to use it. It lasts me 2 hours in the garden - a bit more than I like to last some times Thoroughly recommend it.
