"Thrips"

Started by Doug - 5343 Monday, 04 March 2013
Would some one please let me know how they control Thrips in roses blooms. My roses become so infested that none are suitable for cutting and taking inside, just mottled and unsightly. From afar the blooms look nice in the garden but close up a write off. Never had a problem but the last few years just terrible. They just laugh at sprays etc. Thanks Doug.

Hi Doug I read somewhere years ago that pouring used washing machine water with suds over your roses helped control thrip and makes leaves lovely and glossy. I have done this on numerous occasions with success with controlling thrip. I also find garlic spray helps as well. I try to use natural sprays if I can. Hope this helps. It is worth a try. - Denise

Hi Doug. I use Mancozeb bought in Bunnings. There is Mancozeb Plus that not only controls pests but fungus too which means no more black spot. Use it regularly both on foliage and at the root level. Good luck, gab
