"unidentified tree"

Started by Clare - 5063 Wednesday, 03 October 2012
I have a tree growning in our garden and I don"t know what it is. It has leaves that look like a cross between a loquat, a frangipani and a mango. It has huge yellow/orange flowers that initially look like a balloon which eventually open up to look more like a normal flower. I can post a photo, but thought I would post this message now in case it is obvious what the tree is from my description. I live in Adelaide, so the tree is not tropical, (or perhaps it is) Thanks

Could it be the African Tulip tree or Spathodea or the Nile tree Bignonia family?

Thanks Annette. I have looked up images of your suggestions, but unfortunately they are not the tree. I will have to take a photo next time there is a flower and post it. regards, Clare
